Everyone has those days. The days they just want to throw in the towel and call it quits. Maybe your best friend just moved away and you’re feeling alone. Maybe your beloved dog passed away. Whatever it may be everyone has those days at least once in a while. Lately I feel like those days have come in swarms. I am the only one to blame for feeling this way. Your life is what you make of it. You can take these experiences one of two ways.
The way of the weak is to give up or give in. If something is anchoring you down you will merely let it consume you and make you bitter and miserable. Take a moment to think about this. Something bad happens to you (a cause) and you become sad and then eventually angry and finally cold hearted and hateful towards it (the effect). The same thing happens to person b but they seem to be in good spirits and are cheerful and glowing. What is the difference between you and person b? Person b chose to kick the cause in the butt and rise above it. It is as simple (notice I didn’t say easy) as that. Your situations are what you make of them.
My favorite quote is one by Amy Poehler that states “Continue to share your heart with people even if it’s been broken.” I personally translate this message in many ways; relationships, mental hardships, failures, etc. When something negative happens to you it is your choice to take it negatively. Next time something happens to you that would normally fill your heart with hate, try to find the lesson out of it and move past it. Letting yourself become angry or bitter only hurts you in the end.
