Goal Updates and Obstacles 3/7

My life has been a whirlwind the past few weeks. My sister and her family have moved into the house for starters. I thought things were already hectic before, man was I wrong. Living under a roof with 6 other people is quite a challenge. I’ve also started a new class and begun my volunteer work all at one time.

I’ve still been able to maintain focus on my goals through everything solely on the fact that they are what’s keeping me sane.

Goal Updates

1. Read at least one new book a month
I was able to complete The New Rules of Lifting for Woman last month and it was truly a great read. More on that in another post. The new book I have started is on blogging itself! It is called Problogger. I actually have managed to get 2/3 of the way through with it despite it only being the 6th of the month thanks to a lovely day of jury duty. That’s way too much sitting for me. Problogging has helped me gain a ton of insight on better blogging practices and I hope to implement them immediately. My next book I choose for the month will be something a bit more leisure and uplifting. Any suggestions?

2. Make $800 in side hustle income by May 1st
I have not been able to earn any money through side hustles though the day for the garage sale is getting closer and closer. I hopefully will have the opportunity to get to my storage unit this weekend and go through some of my belongings to start selling on facebook groups at least. Luckily I have come across some refunds from my last apartment that I’ve been able to move to savings.

3. Work out at least 3 days a week
School and working at the shelter have made this nearly impossible this week. I’ve been doing my “work” workouts which are doing simple tasks throughout my work day including calf raises and hip twists, etc. I will be getting in a good workout tomorrow and Saturday so 2 out of 3 with the week I’ve had feels like a success regardless.

4. Eat breakfast at home and bring my lunch to work every day 
Once again, did I mention 4 new people just moved in? The kitchen right now looks like it’s been bulldozed. I have my fingers crossed and some time set aside to figure out a way to do meal prep Sunday so I will have better success on this next week. There were a few days I was able to find an empty box to make a sandwich on top of though.

5. Blog at least 4 days a week
I just went back and counted. Today makes 4 🙂 I was able to do some major brainstorming at jury duty and will able to get good and ahead on this for next week and hopefully from now on.

 

No Spend Challenge

Epic fail on this front. My inability to cook due to a drove of boxes filling the kitchen has made this pretty impossible.

Fun money- All went towards food and I went over by $23.73 🙁
Gas money- Under by $8.69

Meaning I only went over $15.04 total.

Not too terribly bad for my first week. I have my things ready for tomorrow so I won’t be spending any more money 🙂 I feel like my biggest success this week was no unnecessary shopping.

    Our goals are so similar it’s scary. I have posts up on my blog 5 days a week, though I cheat now with a writer on Tuesday and Wednesday. I also try to work out three times a week which seems *somewhat* realistic for people who are crazy busy. I also used to have a book reading goal but it takes me forever to get through one now because there is always something else on my to do list that I try to tackle.

    I have a post coming up a week from Monday titled “the dirty little secret of how bloggers make money” that you may be interested in reading? It might not be anything new to you but it explains how I make most of my side income.

      They’re great goals! That must be why 🙂 I used to always be able to get the 3 workouts in, i actually used to workout 6 days a week but with school starting and starting to work at the shelter it’s been increasingly difficult. I’ve been using bodybuilding.com to write up some workouts I can do at home so hopefully next week will be better. Maybe something like that would help you as well?

      Problogging’s chapter on monetization has my head spinning so hopefully your post will be something I can wrap my head around a bit more easily. Now you have the anticipation all built up, can’t wait to read it!

      I totally followed your advice and brought mine this morning instead of trying to fix it all at home. I was in major need of some grocery shopping and got everything completed yesterday. On the right track with my breakfast AND lunch today.
